HIVE supports the chain of command and the Service community through the provision of up-to-date and relevant information.

“The Pers&Fam Sp HIVE Information Service provides information on behalf of the chain of command to the Service community and welcomes enquiries from serving personnel, dependants, partners, extended families, and the wider military community including veterans and MOD civilians.

An extensive range of information is available, focusing on relocation information, local area information, education, accommodation, employment and training opportunities, childcare and travel. HIVE Information Support Officers (HISOs) research answers to enquiries and provide a link to Service and civilian agencies. The network of HIVEs across the UK and overseas provides a valuable point of contact for serving personnel and families during assignment relocations.

HIVE staff work closely with the Unit welfare staff at times of deployment and provide a communication pack detailing how families can keep in touch during these times.

In addition to the information provision role, HISOs are able to refer should there be a need for personal help or support and will feedback to the chain of command concerns and issues affecting the Service community.

Shake Up Your Summer With Disney's 10 Minute Shake Up Games!

This summer, Public Health England, with support from Sport England, have once again teamed up with Disney, to help get kids active throughout the holidays by playing 10 Minute Shake Up games. This year the games are inspired by some of their favourite characters from Disney Frozen, Disney and Pixar Toy Story and, excitingly for the first time ever, Marvel!

Building on six successful years, the 10 Minute Shake Up campaign aims to inspire children to rebuild confidence in being active, develop new and longer-term physical skills and, most importantly, have fun! Ultimately, the campaign aims to act as an inspiration and gateway to other physical activities and sports.

MOD Flexible Working And You - A Guide For Service Personnel

Flexible Working and You is a digital booklet that acts as a guide to Defence’s package of flexible working opportunities for Service personnel.

These opportunities range from delivering full output in a different place (such as Remote Working) to managed reductions of commitment levels and periods of leave.

The booklet is designed to help Service personnel, line managers and the Chain of Command to explore and discuss the different flexible working opportunities in the Armed Forces, based on an individual’s needs.

Flexible Working and You reminds readers that it may not always be possible to accommodate flexible working requests due to the ways in which different arms and branches of the Services operate; and that any flexible working arrangement is dependent on being able to maintain operational capability.
